My name is Rosa and although I am Spanish I was born in Sao Paulo (Brazil) since my parents were emigrants. I spent my studies there until I was 13 years old, when my parents decided to return to Spain. They left my brother and me in charge of my grandmother until they could solve the economic and patrimonial matters in Brazil.
In Alcalá de Henares I lived with a grandmother whom I did not know, she was dressed in mourning even though my grandfather had passed away many years ago. I have to say that she taught me all the sayings I know. Everything was very different from Brazil.
The adjustment was hard but I made it through. When my parents returned after a year, I felt like my life was turning around.
At school I liked sports and I signed up for rhythmic gymnastics and as I had no rhythm they pushed me to do field hockey. If I was already weird, with my Brazilian accent, my height (I was very tall for the time) and they added a field hockey stick, when I was on the bus they looked at me as if I was an alien.
I studied Business Technician and Tourist Activities and after working in a Tourist Wholesale Company I found a job in a Bank, and although I didn’t like it, they paid well and above all I had my vacations paid.
I currently live in Madrid and I am pre-retired. I like to paint because I have always been good at it. I attend classes at the University for seniors. I am signing up for all the activities and initiatives to live experiences that I have not been able to because of work and family. From this curiosity I am applying to be a co-educator and to be part of this project.
